Pop Goes America™ was created
to meet the need and growing appetite for variety and spice in one
of North
America’s oldest and most popular snack food items. Popcorn is as American
baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie! Popcorn aficionado David Blackstone, founder
and creator of Pop Goes America (emporium of the world’s tastiest popcorn, and
America’s Favorite Popcorn) used to pop his own popcorn at home. He would add
whatever he could find in the fridge or cupboard to put some “zip” into his
plain or buttered popcorn. To satisfy his discriminating taste, he began
frequenting local herb and spice stores to create his own popcorn concoctions
that won over friends at parties and get-togethers. With the encouragement of
these fellow popcorn enthusiasts, Blackstone decided that the time had come for
him to introduce his tasty popcorn fare to the public. Hence Pop Goes America
was created.
Initially unlike other popcorn
retailers, Pop Goes America’s focus was on larger sized retail venues such as
Stadiums and Arenas, and Specialty Events. Pop Goes America’s first major
contract came in 1998 when Pop Goes America signed an agreement with “Armark”
as a sub-contractor for gourmet popcorn at all Houston Astros games and
events at the Houston Astrodome servicing events with as many as 65,000 people
on hand. A year later Pop Goes America showed up at Mardi Gras in New Orleans
serving popcorn snacks to all hours of the night. The focus was to enable
larger sized retail venues to produce and provide consumers
with a wide variety of specialty flavored popcorn, in addition to the
traditional plain or buttered popcorn that venues have always served.
Today, Pop Goes America’s head
office is located in sunny Florida. It’s emphasis is on franchising popcorn
